A Vancouver music teacher, Mark Reid, has won $10,000 cheque and a $10,000 for Vancouver Technical secondary school’s music program. According to the Vancouver Sun article, “MusiCounts Teacher of the Year Award recognizes the work of dedicated teachers who inspire students through their musical teachings.”

Interesting article in today’s Vancouver Sun about educating and providing hope for children in Vancouver’s poorest neighbourhood. Vonnie Hutchingson, the principal of Sir William Macdonald elementary school on East Hastings Street, is aiming for the school to be “a vibrant educational institution” with the help of local donations to bring technology to the classroom.
