Our Stories: A living Library of Antiracist Pedagogy.
Our Stories: A living Library of Antiracist Pedagogy.
Inspired by the concept of the “Human Library,” this event will offer a space for intimate learning exchanges around lived experiences of race and racism in pedagogical contexts. Teachers from different backgrounds will share their personal story to small groups of interested “readers.” Like visiting a library collection, participants will move between these ‘books’ allowing each story to function as a stimulus for personal reflection and group discussion.
The event will take place on June 8th from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. in the Education Library.

New Displays: Books for Ramadan and Books for Easter
Ramadan 2022 in Canada began on the evening of Friday, April 1, and ends on the evening of Sunday, May 1.
For Muslims, Ramadan is the holiest month of the year. Many celebrate by gathering regularly in the evenings, trying to read the whole Qur’an during the month, and fasting from sunrise to sunset. A common observance is to avoid eating and drinking, including water, while the sun is up.
Check out the Ramadan books for children on display near our front desk.

Easter is a Christian festival and cultural holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day of his burial following his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary c. 30 AD.
We have put out many K-12 books for those who want to learn more about this holiday or to use for classroom/teaching purposes.
