Vancouver board of education may cut up to 40 jobs

The Vancouver School Board is meeting tonight to hear input on a plan that could see as many as 40 jobs lost to pay for the CUPE wage increase.

Senior management at the board of education prepared a savings plan to pay for the support staff collective agreement increase of 3.5 per cent that will not be paid for by the Ministry of Education.

Vancouver schools will need to save $2.43 million this year and $4.25 million for the 2014-15 school year, the plan says.
